I have finished the script, mostly as is - cuts and changes to follow.
It
is 98 pages long. . . .
I do like the idea Gilles is
descending into madness. Perhaps he is re-living all this right at the end
of his life. It feels very dark - like a dank castle or cell. But I also
feel that the dark of the woods
is very important. Gilles is actually the
only "real" person in the play. I think everyone else, his play or not, is
in his head. With the possible exception of the moment of Jehanne actually
being conjured,
but that could also be in his head... The illusion of
flames is very important- projections? scrims? . . . .
